The 70’s Series
In the 1970's, Benini was living in Freeport, Grand Bahama and exhibiting his work there and abroad. Two themes dominated his work - huge roses and figurative pieces, including nudes. Still drawing inspiration from people on the island, he created images of the limbo dancers, the congo players and other friends. The all-powerful roses, however, were the star of the decade - huge, stemless, monochromatic, bright colors in his hard-edge technique.
